Reflexology is a non-invasive, safe and deeply relaxing treatment carried out on the feet (and sometimes the hands and ears too). It is based on the ancient theory that organs and structures of the body correspond to certain areas, or reflexes on the feet.
More than just a foot massage, the treatment aims to support the body’s own healing abilities and bring about a natural state of balance. This can alleviate physical and emotional symptoms of stress and tension, improve sleep and promote circulation. When the systems of the body work in harmony it creates an overall sense of wellbeing and can boost the immune system.
I believe the key to understanding more about our own wellbeing lies in connecting to and listening to our bodies. The body is always striving to work in the most optimum way, adjusting and rebalancing continuously and sending out subtle signals to let us know what it needs (food, water rest) and when something is wrong (pain, illness). Often these signals go unnoticed or ignored as we hurry about our daily lives.
Through reflexology, not only are you able to reach a state of deep relaxation and calm, but you are also able to reconnect and tune into the body, hearing its signals before you reach a place of “dis-ease.”
During a guided meditation you will listen and allow your imagination to take over as I guide you through a series of relaxing images and visualisations. It is a gentle, yet powerful way to create a state of deep relaxation, let go of stress and bring about positive changes.
Guided meditation can help you to uncover a sense of clarity, perhaps helping you find your own answers or solutions to current difficulties, helping you focus on your intentions and letting go of thoughts of feelings that may be holding you back. It also helps you to reconnect to yourself, nurturing the mind body connection.
You will remain in control at all times. Guided Meditation is not hypnosis or hypnotherapy.
Most of my sessions include a mixture of reflexology, relaxation techniques and guided meditation. You will remain fully clothed, apart from your socks and shoes and it’s usually best to wear something warm and comfortable as its common to feel a little chilly as the body relaxes. I always have a selection of blankets/pillows to hand but you’re very welcome to use your own if you prefer.
At the beginning and end of each session you will be given time to talk and reflect upon how you are feeling. Every session is tailored to your particular needs on the day and the most suitable and effective techniques will be used. You will never be forced to do anything you don’t want to do and although you may feel deeply relaxed, you will remain fully in control at all times.
During the treatment itself you are likely to feel deeply relaxed and may even nod off.
I really enjoy working with clients in their own homes. So often, home can feel busy and chaotic and you end up feeling like you need to “escape” in order to relax. I love to change this perception by helping you to create a relaxing environment in your own space. This also means you get to continue relaxing after the treatment is over and not worry about parking or getting stuck in traffic.
I cover a 25 mile radius from my home postcode which includes most of Northumberland, Newcastle and North Tyneside.
If you would prefer to visit me in a clinic environment this can be arranged.
Home visits to male clients are only available by referral.
I have a particular interest in (and personal understanding of) the challenges faced by women such as juggling family life, career, trying to live up to societal expectations and also the effects of stress on female hormonal health. Because of this my approach to work is very much from a female perspective, although I understand men need support too and so would never exclude anyone from working with me.
The number of sessions you need very much depends on your individual circumstances and goals.
Mind Body Calm sessions don’t require you to commit to any particular number of sessions. For some people, just one or two sessions are all they are looking for. However in my experience, those who are looking to make lasting changes usually benefit the most from around 6 sessions.
Some of my packages include a set number of sessions which will be detailed in the package information. You may also decide to make a regular commitment to your wellbeing and have a monthly session.

No. I’m not a counsellor or therapist and so if you are struggling with stress to the point that its seriously affecting your ability to function in daily life then I’d always recommend you see your GP.
My work doesn’t replace traditional medical care or medication but can be a wonderful complement to it. If you’d like to discuss this further please contact me.
All appointments are to be paid 48 hours in advance.
I appreciate there may be times when you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment and I kindly ask that you give a minimum of 24 hours notice in advance of your appointment time.
I reserve the right to charge in full for missed appointments and cancellations with less that 24 hours notice.
